FAQs
Everything you need to know about submitting, evaluation, awards, the jury, and billing on Awwwarded.
Submissions
Choose Plus or International on the pricing page, then open your dashboard and press Submit website. A submission includes the live URL, a title and description, a category, technologies, colors, a thumbnail, and up to six highlights. You can credit up to five collaborators.
Yes — submitting requires an active Plus or International plan. A Basic account is free of charge and covers browsing the gallery and jury scores, your public creator profile, and joining team submissions as a collaborator.
A live, publicly accessible website; a clear title and description; the category, technologies, and colors; one thumbnail and up to six highlights; and accurate credits for everyone involved.
JPG, PNG, or WebP files up to 5 MB each — one thumbnail plus up to six highlights showing the key parts of your website. Images are optimised automatically; 1600×1200 is a safe starting point for the thumbnail.
Every submission is checked by hand. You will receive an email the moment it is approved and sent to the jury, and again when scoring is complete. Because moderation is manual, publication can take up to a week — occasionally longer on weekends or during busy periods.
Yes — while it is still a Draft you can edit everything from your dashboard. Once it is submitted, the entry is locked so that every site is judged on equal terms.
Your dashboard → Submissions shows every stage of the journey: Under Review while moderation and jury scoring are running, and Published once your site goes live with its jury scores.
You will receive an email with a clear reason, and the submission slot is returned to your account — so you can address the feedback and submit again without losing a place. Rejected entries are permanently removed thirty days after the decision.
Evaluation & awards
Every published site is scored by an independent jury panel against four fixed criteria — Design, Usability, Creativity, and Content — weighted 40/30/20/10. The weighted average becomes the final score, calculated to two decimals and published together with the full jury breakdown.
Honorable Mention (an overall score of 6.5 or higher), Site of the Day, the Developer Award for technical excellence, Site of the Month, and Site of the Year. Site of the Year eligibility is reserved for International members.
Site of the Day and Honorable Mentions are decided as soon as a site's jury panel completes its votes — usually within days of publication. Site of the Month is decided in a dedicated round after the month closes, and Site of the Year once all of the year's rounds are closed.
On your site's detail page. Unlike many platforms, we publish the complete jury breakdown for every site in the gallery — the overall score and each of the four criteria — permanently.
Open Dashboard → Certificates. Every award you win is listed there with a light and a dark edition of the certificate, ready to download and share.
Browse the gallery and filter by award — Site of the Day, Developer Award, Honorable Mention, Site of the Month, or Site of the Year. The Annual Awards page presents the latest Site of the Month and Site of the Year winners.
Jury
When you are eligible, open Dashboard → Jury and submit your application with a portfolio URL, a short bio, and a headshot. Every application is reviewed by our team.
You need at least 3 Site of the Day wins credited to your profile, plus a portfolio review of your application.
Assignments are distributed automatically across active jury members, with a target number of votes scaled to the size of the jury pool. If a juror cannot complete a review in time, the seat is reassigned so scoring never stalls.
Jurors review the live website and score the four fixed criteria — Design, Usability, Creativity, and Content. A separate development jury evaluates technical craft for the Developer Award, covering performance, accessibility, clean code, responsive design, semantics, SEO, web technologies, and animations.
